When the official line-up dropped the hype was real and everyone was looking forward to this epic EDM festival. But how was it? And will there be an Ultra New Zealand festival in 2027?
Ultra Music Festival came to New Zealand in 2026! Awesome. And Wellington simply is the perfect location to host one of the world’s most iconic electronic music festivals. Was Ultra NZ 2026 worth the hype?
Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital, is no stranger to world-class festivals. Known for its creative energy, stunning waterfront and legendary nightlife, it was the perfect backdrop for Ultra’s debut in the Southern Hemisphere.
And that was definitely true. Of course, it's always exciting to experience the first NZ edition of such an amazing international festival. Will they be able to create the same vibe as on the overseas editions?
The main stage looked pretty cool, but the music often went more towards that modern big-room sound that's all over festivals these days. We've danced to Armin's classic sets, so we can't help but yearn for more of that unfiltered European energy from the 90s. Even so, the vibe was amazing – what a way to experience the first Ultra Festival in New Zealand! It wasn't quite the time capsule we'd hoped for, but we're hopeful it'll be better next year. Ultra NZ or not?
