Ordering beer at Black Abbey in Nashville
Ready to order some craft beer

Take the stairway to hoppy heaven at Black Abbey craft beer brewery in Nashville, TN

There are so many reasons to add Nashville, Tennessee to your USA road trip. Today, we’ll only focus on one of these reasons: craft beer. Black Abbey brewery in Nashville, TN creates (not makes) some amazing brews. Check it out.

The music and hops are aligned at Black Abbey Brewing. Rock music and Belgian-style and German-inspired beers is the perfect combo for me. They also do some nice barrel-aged versions by letting some brews age in Jameson casks. Unfortunately, we missed out on the barrel-aged versions during our last visit. But hey, there’s plenty of other great brews to taste.

Tasting the beers at this brewery in Nashville

Where to start? Which beers to taste first. Our stairway to hoppy heaven in Nashville consisted of the following brews.... This is the tasting flight we created at Black Abbey.

  • Belgian Strong Dark (quadruple)
  • She’s No Lager, She’s My Weisse (wheat beer)
  • Jude (strong bitter)
  • The Special (dubbel)

The Strong Dark and the She’s My Weisse were definite the favourite ones: scoring 4 out of 5 bottle caps or stars. Make sure to follow me on Untappd for more info about how the beers at Black Abbey were rated. And to keep up to date on our brewery road trip or other craft beer check-ins.

High score: 8.5 out of 10

Black Abbey also scored high on my list of favourite craft beer breweries in the USA. It is always great to see Belgium or German-inspired beers on the menu, especially craft beer fans from Europe that haven't tasted these styles in a while. We don’t see a lot of these beer styles in New Zealand. Therefore, I always drop in at breweries that have these styles on the menu. Black Abbey definitely didn’t disappoint.

In fact, they are on my list to visit again in the (near) future as I would love to taste their barrel-aged creations. Something to look forward to.
